One of the most traditional and expected events of the Feast of Sant Roc are the fireworks that are held at the Plaça Nova since the middle of the nineteenth century, one of the most popular and oldest firework spectacles of the city. Prestigious pyrotechnicians such as Domingo Morgades, Dionisi Estapé or Màrius Igual have been in charge of the Fireworks of Sant Roc at plaça Nova during more than a hundred sixty years.
Since the opening of the Avenue of the Cathedral -in 1958- the fireworks occupy this space. Belonging to the tradition of Sant Roc, besides the fires and rockets, there are the traditional ground elements, such as "ventalls", wheels, and above all, pyrotechnic signs with, depending on the year, different alegoric elements of the feast. The Fireworks of Sant Roc are held on the night of the last day of the feast, the sunday or on the day of Sant Roc, and as a closing ceremony for the Feast of Sant Roc.
