In 1973, for the Feast of Sant Roc, the Reunion of the Dog and San Roc was organized. That was the first edition of the Salute of the Dog at Sant Roc, organized with the co-operation of the Royal Canine Society of Catalonia, with canine exhibitions of trained dogs and the presentation of the neighborhood dogs as protagonists. This activity has come to our days with the name of Feast of the Dog as one of the most traditional activities of the feast.

The Feast of the Dog is celebrated in remembrance of the legend of the occitan saint and the dog from Barcelona and the saying "In August, after Sant Roc, saint dog". The current Feast of the Dog is held in the morning or in the evening of the 15th or 17th of August, according to the calendar. The Feast of the Dog has two distinct parts, a traditional greeting of the neighborhood dogs at Sant Roc and a dog training exhibition.
