During the sixties and seventies of the last century, the neighborhood of the Cathedral and Plaça Nova, with the Avenue of the Catedral completely open, took another dimension. Although much of the traditional neighbors no longer lived there, many maintained contact and came for the Feast, but the district widened its boundaries around what is called the Gothic Quarter, and during the festivities of Sant Roc, to the neighboring districts of Sant Pere and Santa Caterina from where lots of children came, and the Feast Committee was reinforced with new members from all over the city.
The proposed activities of the Feast Committee grew in number and variety to attract the new residents and new audiences: cinema, theater, variety, children's festival, traditional dances, singing of "havaneres", drawing and photography competitions, cinema... In 1970 the Feast Committee and the neighbors went to Montpellier, hometown of Sant Roc, for the twinning of the two cities. In 1974 the Salute of the Dog to Sant Roc was created, an event with canine exhibitions where the neighbors' dogs are the stars in memory of the legend of the saint and a dog from Barcelona and of the saying "During August, after Sant Roc, saint dog".
In any case, the fact that the Feast Committees of those decades conserved the most traditional events such as the entourage, the giants, the Cucanya and the games, puppets ... as the most popular and celebrated of the Feast, must be recognized as a success. The press and various studies highlighted it as an example of the vigorous keeping with the tradition in the heart of a city with increasingly fewer residents and more tourists.
